Effect of biochar

Biochar refers to solid (charcoal) obtained by thermally decomposing biomass such as wood,  in a low oxygen (O₂) condition.

At the “IPCC 49th General Meeting” held in Kyoto in May 2019, biochar was formally recognized as a method of carbon dioxide reduction (CDR).

Biochar application to agricultural land can stabley store carbon underground while effectively improves soil for the crops.
